3D Printing Help Boeing787 Save At Least 2 Billion Dollars Each Plane

Boeing announce on Friday, they will hire 3D printer company Norsk Titanium AS to print the first titanium alloy part, working this way can save 2~3 billion dollars each plane. 

Cooperate with 3D printer company is a good way to solve 787 overweight problem and it’s a good performance to improve their efficiency. At the mean while, we can tell from this news that more and more industrial are willing to accept 3D metal printing to replace traditional producing way. 

Norsk Titanium has cooperate with Boeing 787 more than 1 year, they design 4 787 spare parts and try to get approval from FAA. Norsk Titanium expect FAA can agree producing this part late this year. All these spare parts were produced in Norway, but this company are plan to start their printing factory in New York Platts Fort, there are 9 piece professional 3D printers there.
